2012 provided many great memories and beautiful moments.
Dean Blunt feat. Inga Copeland – The Narcisist (Choice of a New Generation)
This stayed on my playlist all year. Wonderfully deep, lo-fi soul from Dean Blunt and Inga Copeland (aka Hype Williams).
Lawrence – A Creator (Final Call)
I am a big fan of the Dial sound and this for me captures exactly what Dial are about. Hypnotic, warm deep house at it’s best.
Les Sins – Taken
Wicked, original broken house styles from Les Sins, signed to Daphni’s Jialong label
Anthony Naples – Mad Disrespect
Big tune from Anthony Naples that cropped up in May and made it’s way into record bags and sets thoughout the year.
Fred P – Emotive Vibrations
A welcome and much needed repress of this amazing track by the master of the deep – Fred P.
Magic Mountain High – A1 – Workshop XX
An absolute killer of a track from Magic Mountain High (aka Move D and Juju & Jordash) from the brilliantly consistent Workshop Label.
Precession – Sandcastle (Mike Huckaby remix)
I heard Dj Qu play this and have wanted it ever since! I couldn’t believe it was originally from 1996!! Forward thinking, stripped back techno that still stands up. So glad it got a repress.
Head High – Rave
Nobody does techno like this man can. For me this one kills it. I have very fond memories of 2562 playing this at Freerotation 2012 and everyone losing their shit. Simple but devastating in a way only Shed is capable.
An absolute musical must for anyone into house, techno, bass and everything inbetween. Featuring the cream of producers and dj’s from around the world, set within the grounds of Baskerville Hall in the beautiful Welsh countryside, the location is beautiful and the intimate vibe is second to none. Freerotation 2012 was probably my musical highlight of 2012 – check the line up and roll on 2013.
